Corrections

If something on this site about your association is wrong, write to corrections@hoaviz.com and tell us which page and which sentence. It reaches a person. You do not need an account, a lawyer, or a relationship with us.

What HOAViz publishes

Only facts we took from a public record, shown with the source we took them from and the date we retrieved it. Every association page lists its sources at the bottom. If we did not check something, we say we did not check it, and we leave it blank rather than filling it with a reassuring guess. That discipline is the whole product, so an error in it is a real problem for us, not an annoyance.

How to dispute a fact

Send us four things: a link to the page, the exact statement you say is wrong, what the correct fact is, and anything that shows it, such as a state filing, a recorded document, or a board resolution. Evidence helps and is not required. If you can only tell us that a statement is wrong, say so and we will go back to the source ourselves. Tell us your name and your role if you have one, because a correction from the association's own secretary is worth more than an anonymous note and we will say so on the page.

What happens next

We read it, we go back to the underlying record, and we act promptly. If we got a fact wrong, we fix it and the page carries a dated correction notice saying what it used to say, what it says now, and when it changed. We do not quietly edit a page and pretend the error never happened. If the public record itself is wrong, which happens, we will say what the record says, note your dispute of it next to the fact, and point to the agency that can amend it. If we conclude the page is right, we will tell you why, in writing, and your reply still goes on the page.

Right of reply

Any board member, manager, or officer of an association may have a response published on that association's page, with their name, their title, and the date. This does not depend on our agreeing with the response, and it is not conditional on paying us anything, claiming the page, or anything else. The standard is narrow and ordinary: it has to be about the association, it has to be signed by someone with a stated role, and it cannot name private individuals or contain material we are not free to publish.

What we will not do

We will not publish an unsourced claim about an association, from you, from an owner, or from anyone else. We will not publish anonymous tips, and we do not run a complaints board. We will not remove an accurate entry drawn from a public record because it is unflattering, and being asked to is not itself a reason to change anything. We will not trade a correction for money, for a claim, or for a link. If we are wrong we fix it for free, and if we are right we say so.

Officers and directors named on this site

The people named on association pages come from that association's own filing with the Florida Division of Corporations, and we publish only name and title, never the home addresses that appear in the state file. If you are named on a page and the filing has since changed, or we attached you to the wrong association, that is an error and we will correct it promptly. See the privacy page for what we hold back and why.

Conflicts

HOAViz does not cover associations its founder has a personal interest in. That is disclosed in full, by name, on the conflicts page.
