Conflicts of interest
HOAViz publishes adverse facts about Florida associations. A site that does that owes you its own conflicts, in plain language, before you have to go looking. There is one.
The conflict
HOAViz's founder owns a unit at Allington Towers in Hollywood, Florida, and is an adverse party in an active governance dispute with that association. He is therefore not a neutral party about it, and no methodology, however carefully applied, would make him one.
What we do about it
HOAViz does not publish pages for Allington Towers. The association is excluded from the site by name, in the code that loads the data, with the reason written next to it. It is not in the index, not in the sitemap, and not in search results here. We will not accept claims or corrections about it either, because accepting a correction is an editorial judgment and this is exactly the judgment the founder should not be making. If you are researching Allington Towers, use the Florida Division of Corporations and the DBPR condominium registry directly. They are the same sources we would have used.
Why not just cover it neutrally
Because you would have no way to check that we had. The value of every other page here rests on our being disinterested, and the cheapest way to protect that is to give up the one page where we are not. Suppressing it costs HOAViz one record out of roughly 30,900. A reader finding the conflict on their own would cost the other 30,899.
Every other association
Nothing about this changes how any other association is treated. The rules are the same ones on every page: publish only what a public record says, name the source, date it, leave it blank when the record is silent, and correct errors promptly and visibly. We have no financial interest in any association on this site, we do not accept payment to change, improve, or remove a page, and there is no advertising here. See corrections for how to dispute a fact and methodology for how the Health Score is built.
If this changes
If the founder acquires an interest in another association, or this dispute ends, we will update this page and date the change rather than remove it. Tell us if you think we have missed a conflict: corrections@hoaviz.com.
